Asthma Treatments
Asthma is a chronic disorder related to the respiratory system which leads to inflammation of the bronchial tubes. Asthma causes constriction and inflammation of the air passage, thus making it difficult to breath. Causes for asthma are associated with chemical, genetic and environmental factors. Some common factors which trigger asthma include infections like flu and colds, food allergies, pollen, dust mites, allergies to certain drugs, and irritants like dust and cigarette smoke. Whenever someone is exposed to these triggering factors, their body releases histamine as well as other agents. This leads to inflammation of the bronchial tubes, which in turn causes narrowing and clogging of the air passages. This leads to symptoms which include wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness, and coughing.
Some Indications of Asthma Attacks:
During a severe asthmatic attack, a series of changes occur in the lungs as well as air passages which contribute to developing the symptoms of asthma attacks. Inflammation, excessive mucus production and bronchospasm can cause different symptoms of asthma attacks which comprise of wheezing, coughing and breathlessness. Symptoms of asthma attacks could vary in duration and severity. Early symptoms of asthma attacks include headaches, an itchy throat, chronic cough, wheezing, difficulty in talking and breathing, chest tightness and a disturbed sleeping pattern. Wheezing is one of the most frequently observed symptoms of asthma attacks. A mild asthma attack is common and is curable within a couple of hours of treatment.
A severe asthma attack is not very frequent. However, it could last longer as well as need urgent medical attention. The symptoms of severe asthma attacks occur gradually and could turn worse in 6 - 48 hours. Some symptoms that indicate the worsening of asthma attacks include fatigue, low peak expiratory flow rate, restlessness, increased wheezing and an increased pulse rate.
In severe cases of asthma attacks, patients could experience life-threatening symptoms such as nasal flaring, pain in the chest, breathlessness, difficulty in talking, sweating, and an increased pulse and heartbeat. A very severe asthma attack may also result in respiratory arrest or perhaps death. An asthma attack is regarded as a medical emergency and needs urgent medical attention.
Treatment for Asthma Attacks:
Asthma attacks symptoms might appear similar to other respiratory disorders including bronchitis, emphysema and respiratory tract infections. Therefore, an exact diagnosis of asthma is necessary, to decide on the treatment option. The severity of asthma symptoms can be monitored with pulmonary function tests such as nitric oxide measurement, peak flow reading, spirometry and pulse oximetry. Asthma treatment is focused on managing the symptoms, and maintaining the proper functioning of the lungs as well as preventing a severe asthma attack. Oral corticosteroids, methylxanthines, leukotriene inhibitors such as montelukast and zileuton, and short-acting beta agonists could be used to lower the inflammation caused during an acute asthma attack. The use of HFA (hydrofluoroalkane) inhalers helps to control breathlessness. In case of life threatening symptoms, mechanical ventilation and intubation are important to help in breathing.
Medications like Ventolin inhaler have proved quite effective for asthma patients. Ventolin inhaler belongs to a category of drugs called beta-agonists.

Do you eat right?
In this health conscious world, it is essential to be healthy rather than slimmer. A healthy body means having a healthy mind and soul, free from any diseases. Diseases that are most prevalent these days are not actually diseases but signify our non-healthy lifestyle of eating and living. It all depends upon the type of food that we eat and the amount of fat that it contains.
Foods that are high in saturated fats and carbohydrates can lead to heart disease and increased blood sugar and increased cholesterol. Cholesterol is an essential body fat that is produced by the liver and helps in maintaining regular normal body functions. Cholesterol in the body should be in sufficient amount so that it does not exceed its recommended limit.
Is your Cholesterol high?
Cholesterol is also of 3 types namely good cholesterol, bad cholesterol and Triglycerides. Bad cholesterol should be present in lower quantities as high amount of bad cholesterol can lead to disease of the heart. On the other hand Good cholesterol helps in preventing the heart disease. The third type is the triglycerides. Triglycerides in conjunction with cholesterol help in forming the fat of the blood known as plasma lipid. When the calorie intake is more than can be used up, it gets converted into triglycerides and is stored as fat which is used up later when the body needs energy.
High cholesterol levels can be quite dangerous and can cause stroke, chest pain, heart disease, heart attack and problem in the arteries. Routine Detoxification
Detoxification is an important procedure in keeping the body healthy and fit. This process helps in making the bloodstream purer, free from the toxicity that is imbibed at every step, opening up the skin pores and allowing the skin to breathe. Find out how you can carry out this process right at home.
As is extremely well-known today, among fitness freaks and not alike, one of the best ways to keep the body slim and fit, the skin glowing and the innards running smooth as clockwork is detoxification. As we go about our daily tasks, consuming unhealthy and irresistible foods, exposing ourselves to a whole lot of pollution and much else, we accumulate and imbibe a lot of harmful substances. These elements are extensively damaging to our system, and need to be flushed out. This is called the detoxification process, and is one of the most ancient of health rituals to have been in existence. This purging is done automatically by the body in various ways: as passing of body wastes through urination, bowel movements and in the form of sweat. Basically, the skin is the principal mode of exit for these toxic substances. Besides this, there are various other methods of detoxification of the body, like the detox foot spa. Through this, one can open up the pores on the soles of the feet and coax the impurities out through them. The one common aspect amongst all of these is that they are all completely natural, and can be undertaken without much trouble right in our own homes.
It is well known that possibly the best method of detoxification is using water as the agent. From ancient times, water therapy has been in rampant use. The historic medicine men were quick to find out that the most abundantly available natural resource had practically magical properties, holding the power to solve almost any physical problem. Water can be applied to the purpose of purging the impurities from the body in myriad methods. Drinking plenty of this fluid works wonders since it purifies the bloodstream of its toxicity. Moreover, it also helps in clearing the system of deposited fats by increasing the rate of metabolism. The Detox Bath, designed by Louis Kuhne, targets the groinal and genital areas since these have the maximum concentration of nerves here. This method has myriad purposes: from stimulating the nerves, thus increasing sexual stamina and improving energy and blood circulation to increasing the rate of metabolism. Steam baths are yet another great way of purification since they open up the sweat pores.
Yet another detoxification procedure is the cleaning of the colon. This process is very easy, although can be pretty painful at times if it is done through an enema. Otherwise, this can be done with the help of colon cleansers and laxatives. However, it must be remembered that this can be done best with the help of the correct food. Various fruits and vegetables act as strong colon cleansers, such as the banana. Foods with high fibre content are also highly beneficial. Besides, drinking a lot of water will keep you hydrated and make bowel movements smoother. You must keep in mind that passing stool and urine regularly is necessary since these acts help in removing the waste materials from the body.

Popular High Blood Pressure Treatments
High blood pressure, or hypertension, is a condition that occurs when the pressure in your blood travelling through your blood vessels increase. When this occurs, it results in your heart working harder than normal, in order to make the blood reach to every part of your body. As your heart has to work harder than usual, it tends to weaken as time passes, which increases the possibility of you developing severe cardiovascular problems. High blood pressure or hypertension as such is not a disease in itself, but can lead to several health complications in the future. So it is advisable that you treat high blood pressure at the earliest opportunity.
What is Ramipril?
High blood pressure can be treated with the medications available on the market. Ramipril is one of the most popular high blood pressure treatments used by people all over the world. It is an ACE inhibitor and lowers your blood pressure by inhibiting the production of natural compounds such as angiotensin II. When the production of these compounds is stopped it allows blood to flow easily as the blood vessels relax. This helps in controlling the blood pressure in your body, also allowing your heart to run smoothly. You can buy Ramipril on prescription or through any of the registered online clinics.
What is Amlodipine?
Amlodipine is another of the popular high blood pressure treatments, which is also referred to as Istin. It is a calcium channel blocker which reduces the flow of calcium in your blood by blocking the calcium channels. As the level of calcium decreases in your blood, it is able to flow more easily in your blood vessels. You can take this pill if you are 18 years old or above and have been diagnosed with high blood pressure by a doctor. However, this pill should be avoided if you are pregnant, are breastfeeding or are allergic to the ingredients of this pill.
What is Lisinopril?
Lisinopril is another popular high blood pressure treatment, which belongs to the category of medicines known as ACE inhibitors. Similar to Ramipril, it works by inhibiting the production of natural compounds such as angiotensin II, which causes narrowing and constricting of your blood vessels. By preventing the production of such natural compounds, Lisinopril allows the blood to flow more easily through your blood vessels. Genital Herpes Treatment, Where Should It Begin?
If you abruptly notice ugly and painful sores on your genital parts, the first thing that comes to your mind is worry.
This is because the only way to explain this according to you is that the bastard you trusted with the entire might have infected you with the reality your eyes are starring at.
But I will be wrong if I do not say that the response is different especially to some of us who are cool and collected.
However this should not be an issue any longer, since nothing can be done except dealing with the reality at hand. Suppose it is genital herpes treatment, where should it begin? This is open to discussion and one can expect lots of suggestions, but let me give you mine.
What symptoms do I see or feel?
You must start by realizing that you are the best doctors you have and therefore must be able to see, feel and tell that something is wrong with your body.
With genital infections, the symptoms might be similar and it is possible that if you choose to treat yourself at home, you end up making the wrong guess.
However, if you are the kind that read wide, perhaps you should be able to note these symptoms for genital herpes. Painful sores in the genital area, sore lymph nodes in the groin area, vaginal discharge, painful urination, itching, headache, fever and joint pains.
Where can I get more understanding about these symptoms?
The worst disservice you can do to your body is allowing it to hurt because according to you, no one should watch you where you rather keep hidden.
Once you have analyzed your body and recorded the signs and it then occur to you that this is too much to comprehend, trust your doctor. It is him who should carry out the various tests which should eventually confirm your worry.
What treatment is he likely to prescribe?
I do not mean to scare you but the truth of the matter is that the herpes simplex virus can never ever be expelled from your body.
Nevertheless, there are treatments available in form of medical prescriptions that the doctor should prescribe to you so that the symptoms may subside after a given period. This will depend on the severity of the sores, blister and any other sign.
Risks of having a recurrence
The risk of having a chronic genital herpes again is high because the HSV virus goes no where. Also if you continue having crazy affairs with every easy going intercourse partner, without protection, the chances are high that this illness will come back.
How can I at least let the treatment work?
If the prescribed medicines have to make any kind of change on those ugly sores on your thighs, genital parts or even the cold sores on your mouth, then you got to give it a smooth time.
You need to realize that those tight clothes allow not any or little amount of to circulate underneath those underpants. They might even bruise the sores more. It's also important for you to maintain high standards of cleanliness.

Early Menopause VS Heart Attack Risks
Women who go through menopause before the age of 46 are twice as likely to have a heart attack or stroke as women who go through the change later in life, a study has found.
Early menopause was found to double the risk of stroke and heart attack. Scientists said a genetic link between ovarian function and heart disease could be to blame
Lead author Dr Melissa Wellons, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, said women who had the menopause early should make extra efforts to reduce their risk.
'My advice to them would be to get your traditional risk factors checked and do the things that we know, based on evidence, can improve your risk of developing heart disease, like keep your cholesterol in check and keep your blood pressure in check,' she said.
Women who went through menopause naturally or had a hysterectomy - surgery to remove the uterus - can cause early menopause.
None of the women had cardiovascular disease at the beginning of the study. Researchers tracked them for an average of five years to see who ended up having a heart attack or stroke.
They found 23 of the women who had gone through menopause early, and 27 who hadn't, suffered a heart attack or cardiac arrest or died from heart disease, according to findings published in the journal Menopause.
That translates to 3.3 per cent of women in the early menopause group and 1.5 percent of the other group. Similarly, 18 women - or 2.6 per cent - of the early menopause group had a stroke during the study, compared to 19 (one per cent) of women who hit menopause later.
It's not clear why early menopause might be linked to cardiovascular disease. Some scientists have theorized that estrogen could play a role as the hormone drops following the change.
However, a Women's Health Initiative study on hormone replacement therapy was stopped early because women taking hormones after menopause were actually found to have a higher risk of heart disease and certain cancers.
'It could be a genetic association, (where) genes that are related to ovarian function may also be associated with cardiovascular disease, and those two things are related but not through a common causal pathway,' Dr Wellons added.
She said more research is needed before doctors can know how to intervene to try to reduce the higher heart disease risk among women with early menopause.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death among U.S. women. Combined with strokes, it is responsible for almost one in three deaths, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Heat Exhaustion
Heat
The human being suffers a variety of reactions when exposed to high temperatures. Usually there are three different forms of this reaction. They are called "heat cramps," "heat exhaustion" and "heat stroke." They may occur during exposure to the heat from the sun in climates where the sun is especially hot, and they occur particularly to people who have not been acclimated by exposure to the sun gradually over a long period of time. After a while the body accustoms itself to heat by a decline in the amount of sodium in the perspiration.
Heat Cramps
Heat cramps occur in those who have sweated excessively and taken excessive amounts of water. The condition usually occurs in stokers and miners. Chief among the symptoms is pain which is due to a spasm of the muscles of the body. The taking of dilute salt solution instead of water for drinking purposes prevents heat cramp with certainty.
Heat Exhaustion
Heat exhaustion comes usually during excessively hot weather and is accompanied by changes in the circulation of the blood. The chief symptom of heat exhaustion is weakness and faintness which may go on to the coming of actual unconsciousness. The sweating is profuse, but the temperature of the body does not change.
It is easy to prevent heat exhaustion by reducing the amount of physical activity during excessively hot weather and by regulating the atmosphere by the use of electric fans or other similar devices. Whenever anyone is exposed to excessive sweating during the hot weather, dilute salt solutions should be taken instead of ordinary drinking water.
Heatstroke Or Sunstroke
The chief manifestations of heat stroke or sunstroke include rapidly mounting fever and a dry skin. Under such conditions the temperature of the body may go as high as 110 or even 112. With these high temperatures comes apathy and, finally, the person becomes unconscious. Apparently this disorder is more common in old people and in alcoholics.
Heat stroke is also fairly frequent during the first few days of a heat wave when people keep right on working hard without regard to the height of the temperature. The condition occurs more often with a high humidity than when there is low humidity. The recommendation has been made that hospitals keep available tubs filled with water and ice, so that persons with heat stroke may be cooled off as rapidly as possible by being immersed in cold water and given massage to promote circulation of the blood at the same time. Just as soon as the high temperature is brought down to 100 degrees, the person is put in bed and the temperature is controlled by the use of wet sheets and an electric fan.
The purpose of this is to stop as rapidly as possible the effects of the heat on the vital organs of .the body. Under such circumstances everything possible is done to keep the heart and circulation of the patient in working condition.

Benefits of Himalayan Bath Salts
When you slip into a salt bath made with Himalayan Bath Salts, you are entering a primal
ocean of minerals that have been immaculate for millions of years! Many say it is like entering a sea of pure energy! These salt deposits have been underground in their own ecosystem deep under the Himalayan Mountains for over two million years. The pressure of the mountains turned these salt deposits
into a crystalline form making it easier for our bodies to take in its 84 minerals.
Himalayan Bath Salts are a precise mesh with our bodies inner workings because it contains an almost duplicate set of elements to those found in the human body. It contains 84 of the possible 92 trace minerals in the same ideal relationships that naturally exist in our blood. Crystal salt also carries enormous amounts of spare electrons, providing great antioxidant properties. When introduced to the body, profound reconstruction of cellular membranes becomes possible. When you are in a salt bath, the minerals stimulates circulation, hydrates the skin, increases moisture retention, promotes cellular
reconstruction, detoxifies the skin, and helps heal dry, scaling, irritated skin.
Salt water bathing also reduces inflammation of the muscles and joints, sooths muscles and relieves pain and soreness. These benefits are accomplished by the natural absorption factor of the skin where the minerals in the Himalayan Bath Salts are absorbed into the skin restoring the mineral balance of the body.
During this absorption, toxins are released from the blood to the skin and then into the water
detoxifying the body. The bio-energetic deficits are rebalanced and weak links become
strengthened, reactivating and helping to restore our body's electric current. It has been
said that a 30-45 min. Himalayan Salt Bath is equivalent to a 3 day fast!

The best way to understand a Female Discharge
It doesn't always mean that there is something wrong or you have an infection if you're having a female discharge. I know it can be alarming if you have never had one before.
A clear thin discharge is perfectly normal before and after you menstrual cycle. This discharge may last a few days and then clear up on its own.
We can identify two completely different types of infections through your female discharge. These very common infections are a yeast and a bacterial, each one has a different color and odor.
A light white almost clear to a thick bright white discharge with the consistency of cottage cheese is a candida infection. This should have very little to no odor and be quite itchy around the vagina. It is the most common symptom of a yeast infection.
This type of female discharge is really easy to clear up the symptoms. However you should take care to make sure you have killed all the candida in your system to insure you won't get one again. These types of yeast infections are very frustrating to keep dealing with and even though some over the counter medications will clear the symptoms fast they don't cure the root of the problem.
A word to the wise a yeast infection can be sexual transmitted between you and your partner. Yep, you guessed it I found that out the hard way. Me and my husband were had no idea that could happen. So I gave it to him and cured myself only to have him give it right back to me. Men generally don't have symptoms of a yeast infection and just carry it. Of course the was before i knew the real trick to just kill all the candida in your entire body. The funny thing is it's so simple with the right program and I was working so hard for a cure before. I just never knew.
If you are having a light yellow to a dark yellow brownish color discharge with more of a liquid texture and a bad odor then you have bacterial vaginosis. A bacterial infection may have light itchiness but the odor is the embarrassing symptom here. The easiest way to tell a bacterial infection in bye the odor and the off white color.
The easiest mistake I see made with a bacterial infection is treating it like a yeast infection. You just cannot cure bacterial vaginosis with a yeast infection cure, it won't work. Bacterial vaginosis is very common and can be cured form the privact of your own home, you just have to use the right method.
Now bacterial vaginosis is not spread easily through sexual intercourse like a yeast infection might. However it can cause a multitude of problems for you, especially if you are pregnant. So I would suggest you get this cleared up as soon as possible and besides it's really easy to cure if you just follow the right steps. There is no sense in having this any longer now that you know what it is.

This change simply marks the end of fertility for a woman and is defined by a woman missing 12 menstrual periods in a year. This is usually caused naturally when the body ages, but it can also start sooner due to a medical procedure or something else causing early menopause. Preparing for the major symptoms will help you to make this change much easier.
The final thing you really need to understand about menopause is the post menopause stage. This is when you get your last period or when the ovaries become inactive. Throughout actual menopause you may experience very irregular periods, but once you have reached post menopause this will all be over with.
Understanding Menopause and Having a Plan
If you have not reached the first stage of menopause yet, but you want to be prepared you are doing the right thing. By understanding menopause before it starts you can make the adjustments to your diet, exercise, and other parts of your life to help keep the symptoms to a minimum. This will give you time to put together a plan for when menopause does start.
Now is the time to gain knowledge of the natural herbal remedies for some of the symptoms of menopause along with the other things you can do to keep the symptoms from taking over your life. If you have a plan before you start menopause you will be better off and the confidence alone will help you get through this major change.
Start by researching menopause in general and finding out what has worked for other women. Not everything will work for every woman, but there are things that will work for you. Make sure you take the time to put together your plan, so that you are ready. Understanding menopause is a great place to start and your plan will help make menopause much easier on your body and your mind.

New Ovarian Cyst Treatment Avoids Surgery
Not too long ago a new website was launched in the women's health area. This website deals with all the details related to ovarian cysts and ovarian cyst treatment. It is a very welcome new website that will help a tremendous number of women deal with their ovarian cyst problems.
Many women suffer from the awful effects and symptoms of ovarian cysts. Abdominal pain, problems with sexual intercourse, or lower back pain are only a few examples. But the knowledge that you have a massive growing cyst in your body has plenty anxiety too, understandably.
Many women are looking for any method at all to find relief or a cure. However, they almost always find themselves in the office of their physician, hearing news that they might have to go for an operation. Nobody likes hearing that kind of news. Not only is having an operation a serious assault on anyone's body, it is also often completely unnecessary.
It is this realization, this knowledge, about ovarian cysts that brought Clare Witmer to develop a great and authoritative website about these very issues. Clare Witmer, the creator of the website has personal experience with various gynecological problems and has developed a major interest in helping people deal with them.
When you visit the website, you will find lots of articles and videos about essential information about topics such as ovarian cyst removal, ruptured ovarian cysts, ovarian cyst surgery, symptoms of ovarian cyst, and of course the treatment of ovarian cyst.
One of the most important topics you will find is how to treat ovarian cyst naturally. As mentioned earlier, in many cases ovarian cyst surgery can be avoided using natural methods, and you will find helpful information about this.
Also, ovarian cysts can be prevented altogether, and Clare points people in the right direction to be able to make sure they never will, or will never again, have to deal with the symptoms.
I highly recommend you visit this site if you or anyone else you know suffers from ovarian cysts and needs help.

Relationship Between Coffee and Weight Loss
"Will consuming caffeine risk your weight loss plan? Unfortunately, unlike coffee, there's no black and white answer," admits Ellen Wright, website manager of Weight-Loss Center.
Technically, caffeine can help reduce weight by triggering the ephedrine, particularly its fat-burning properties. It also increases your basal metabolic rate, which simply means the amount of calories that you burn when your body is at rest. Black coffee, without the sugar and other additives, contains very low calorie to even impact on your weight. Ms. Wright says a cup will net a maximum of eight calories but when designer coffees were introduced by coffee chains, the calories add up. Sugar and cream alone can add another 100 calories to a cup of coffee. "You can get 260 calories from a cup of Caffè Mocha from one of the largest US coffee chains, for example. That is already equivalent to eight grams of fat.
The Grande White Chocolate Mocha has about 550 calories," she says. In order not to gain excess pounds, women need to avoid exceeding 2,000 calories per day and 260 calories is already about 12 percent of the total. Caffeine also boosts production of cortisol, a stress hormone. High levels of cortisol are linked with increased appetite, cravings for sugar and insulin resistance, which in turn is linked to the development of type 2 diabetes.
To avoid derailing your path toward weight loss, Ms. Wright offers the following suggestions:
- Avoid going designer brands from coffee shops and drink your coffee as plain as possible.
Don't put too much sugar in it and stay away from sweeteners like aspertame which can affect your hormones;
- Regulate your coffee consumption. If you are drinking five to six cups a day, you may develop caffeine addiction.
- Coffee encourages snacking. So avoid a slice of cake or pie when you do drink coffee. Ms. Wright says that the Weight-Loss Center is home to hundreds of articles, weight loss tools, healthy recipes, and "the busy Weight Loss Forum devoted to helping you maintain a healthy body and lifestyle." "The Weight-Loss Center is run by dieters just like you. With today's fast paced lifestyles it is harder and harder to get into shape and stay that way.
Yet there are thousands of products and services (diet programs, supplements, pills) available for just that purpose," she says, which explains the difficulty in sorting out the false information from the truthful ones. She says the weight watcher needs educate himself or herself particularly on the many factors that go into determining which diet programs will work best for you.
These factors include age, sex, genes, and attitude. "For any weight loss program to be successful, experts all agree that it must include the three basics. They are: an eating plan that reduces the amount of daily caloric intake, a strong physical activity component and some behavior modification to change old habits," she says.

Laser Hair Removal - the best method of hair removal?
Everybody wants to look and feel fantastic and to enjoy the confidence that brings. However, excessive body hair is a common problem effecting both men and women and varies from person to person. It can be unsightly, causing embarrassment and loss of confidence but removing it can be just as bad. Hair removal is often seen as a major inconvenience and a chore to say the least.
There are numerous ways of removing unwanted hair, however the relief is often short lived and just trying to decide on which method to use can be a headache in itself.
Shaving is probably the most commonly used method and does allow you to achieve something approaching smooth feeling skin. However, the re-growth is fast usually returning a day or two after shaving and shaving sensitive areas is also a problem for many people which can cause irritation, rashes and cuts. This is where the creams, foams and moisturisers come in and the cheap and cheerful way of removing hairs walks out the door.
Hair removal creams can be used on most areas of the face and body. The creams usually work within 10 minutes by dissolving the hair. Applying cream to large areas of the body can be tricky and messy and can cause irritation and even allergic reactions. The re-growth is also fairly quick and the hair can be back within a week, as like shaving, it removes hair from the surface of the skin and doesn’t tackle the ‘root’ of the problem.Waxing the unwanted hair gives a longer lasting result as the hair is basically pulled out whole. It is common not to notice any re-growth for around four weeks. Not long considering the pain waxing causes and the risk of ingrown hairs which can be irritating and cause infection.
However, there is one hair removal option available to everybody which gives permanent results!
Soprano XL Laser hair removal is safe, quick and easy and with no mess, ingrown hairs or nasty nicks in sight!
Laser hair removal works by permanently damaging the hair follicle underneath the skin so the hair falls out and it is unable to grow back. Soprano XL can treat unwanted hair on all areas of the face and body. The treatment is both comfortable and painless and has even been likened to a hot stone massage. Who ever guessed that hair removal could be enjoyable?
Approximately six treatments are recommended for the body and eight for facial areas, usually with a space of six to eight weeks in between treatments. The best thing is that there are no side effects and results are noticeable after the first one to two treatments. After each treatment the hair will be noticeably thinner and finer than before until most of the hair is un-able to grow back. The costs start at approximately £50 per treatment and due to the small number of treatments needed to eliminate unwanted body hair the overall cost compared to a lifetime of shaving or waxing is considerably less.
LHR is becoming more and more popular by the minute. As the treatments are so comfortable with no mess and minimal effort from yourself, laser hair removal is the new lunch hour treat!

Smoking May Be Associated With Increased Risk of Breast Cancer
Researchers at Brigham and Women's Hospital found that heavy and prolonged smoking initiated before menopause may be associated with a modest increase in the risk of developing breast cancer. These findings are published in the January 24 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine.
"Breast cancer is the most common cancer to affect women worldwide," said lead study author Fei Xue, MD, ScD, of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at BWH. "Knowing that tobacco smoke contains potential human breast carcinogens, we wanted to determine whether there was a connection between smoking and breast cancer risk."
Using data collected from the Nurses' Health Study, the researchers examined the records of 111,140 women from 1976 to 2006 for active smoking and 36,017 women from 1982 to 2006 for passive, or secondhand, smoking. They found that the development of breast cancer was associated with a higher quantity of current and past smoking, smoking for a longer period of time, younger age at smoking initiation and more pack-years (the number of packs per day and the number of years that quantity was smoked) of smoking. Women who smoked more than 30 pack-years between menarche and menopause had a 28% higher incidence of breast cancer than never smokers.
Smoking before menopause was positively associated with breast cancer risk, though smoking after menopause was shown to potentially be associated with a slightly decreased breast cancer risk. "This difference may suggest an antiestrogenic effect of smoking among postmenopausal women that may further reduce their already low endogenous estrogen levels," said senior study author Karin B. Michels, ScD, PhD, of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at BWH, noting the many other serious health risks of smoking at any age, including after menopause. Researchers found that passive smoking in childhood or adulthood was not associated with an increase in breast cancer risk.
"Though we did not find an association between light to moderate or passive smoking and breast cancer risk, it is important to highlight the many potential health risks beyond breast cancer that have a proven association with smoking," said Dr. Xue.
Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) is a 777-bed nonprofit teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School and a founding member of Partners HealthCare, an integrated health care delivery network. Latest Digital Mammography Machine Offers Early Cancer Detection
The only General Electric digital mammography machine in Utah is now installed and operational at the newly constructed Riverwoods Imaging Center.
It has the lowest radiation dosage of any system in the state, Radiologist Dr. Wendell Gibby said. This state-of-the-art system is now taking appointments for both screening and diagnostic mammography.
Radiologist Brent Chandler will read the scans, imaging center owner Gibby said. Chandler served as the Director of Mammography at Utah Valley Regional Hospital for more than 30 years.
The Riverwoods Imaging Center moved to its new location on University Avenue, just one mile north of BYU stadium last year, but the new mammography-imaging machine couldn't be installed until the Federal Drug Administration approved it. General Electric manufactures the machine and its research points to improved diagnostic accuracy over traditional film mammography for women under age 50.
Other international studies show improved diagnostic accuracy regardless of age or breast density over the film counterpart while radiation with digital mammography is 30 percent lower, GE reports.
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among American women, yet Utah holds the dubious title as the second lowest state in the nation for women to have the annual screening done, said LeeAnn Peters, mission manager for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, a national cancer fighting organization with a branch in Salt Lake City.
One in every seven women contract the disease nationally so regular screening over age 40 is recommended. However, Utah women have a relatively low incidence rate but the mortality rate is on par with the national average, Peters said.
"Women under 40 should see their doctor to determine their risk factors," she said.
For black women the foundation urges early screening because black women are being diagnosed with the disease at an earlier age and often with a more aggressive form, Peters said. Found the Komen's screening guidelines
Gibby's new imaging center should make it more convenient for women to get the screening done, he said. The wait time is short and the screening discrete and quick.
"We are able to get images from other centers to compare with, if you have been going to other facilities. If anything suspicious shows up we do other tests such as magnification views, ultra-sound, MRI or biopsy right on site," Gibby said. "Most insurances will pay for it so there are few excuses not to get it. We also offer steep discounts for cash pay patients."
Still, many women who don't get screened annually don't believe they will get the disease or they would rather pursue a holistic approach of preventing it or have a fatalistic view of life, Gibby said.
"Once you get (breast cancer), it's harder to deal with it," he said.
A cancer smaller than 2 centimeters has a 90 percent cure rate, but if it spreads, the cure rate drops dramatically.
"Everyone knows someone who has died from it," he said. "Causes may include a predisposition or family history and it's more common among women who don't breast feed. Other factors are diet and toxic exposures. You can't control it entirely, but you can screen for it."
Early screening and treatments have resulted in a drastic drop in cancer deaths, but the incidence has not changed in 30 years.
"I take a personal view of it," Gibby said. "Both my mother and my sister had breast cancer. My mother underwent a radical mastectomy, and although cured, was horribly disfigured for the rest of her life. I would hope other women would not have to suffer as she did by detecting the cancer earlier"
Riverwoods Imaging Center, located at 3152 N. University Ave., is in a new building that includes the Blue Rock Medical Center, an emergency care facility and other medical disciplines.

Oprah Vows to Save Millions From Diabetes
"This silent killer continues to affect 80 million people." According to Oprah, "People are dropping like flies." She continues, "I have a radical goal in the next 60 minutes to save millions of lives."
A recurring guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show, Dr Mehmet Oz, heart surgeon, says he often treats people with diabetes since the disease is so prevalent in todays society. "One quarter of the people I operate on have diabetes because diabetes causes hardening of the arteries,"
57 million people have pre-diabetes. 24 million people in the US have been diagnosed with diabetes. 6 million don't even know they have it. The risk of death for people with diabetes doubles.
There are 800,000 new cases each year and that doesn't include the increasing rate of children who are being diagnosed. That means 91 people are being diagnosed with this life threatening disease every hour.
Two Most Common Types of Diabetes Are:
Type 1 is usually confirmed between childhood to age 30. The person's pancreas produces little or no insulin and without added insulin, the person can go into a coma. Complications are hardening of the arteries, loss of vision, and kidney failure."
Type 2 is when the person is both insulin resistant and has high blood sugar. This type of diabetes can often be treated with diet, exercise and oral medicine and is frequently linked to obesity.
Oprah goes on to say, "Americans spend $174 billion a year on diabetes and that will double in 25 years. That is more than AIDS and all of the cancers combined. "At this rate it will bankrupt our health care system,"
Suzanne Andrews, host of Functional Fitness on PBS TV, advises her diabetes patients to make time for fitness now or sickness later. " People with diabetes need to exercise to control blood sugar and reduce the risk of heart disease and nerve damage. The more you exercise, the less dependant your muscles are on insulin."
Sudies reveal that people with pre-diabetes can prevent or delay and reverse type 2 diabetes. According to the Science Daily, "In studies that focused on exercise only, blood glucose improved twice as much as in studies that focused on exercise, diet and medication adherence," said Vicki Conn, professor and associate dean of research in the MU Sinclair School of Nursing. "One thing we found was that it doesn't matter how overweight you are or how poor your current blood glucose is at the start of the studies, the improvements from exercise were equal across the board," Conn said.
All medical professionals agree that if a diabetic makes time for prevention now, they reduce the time they spend with serious complications later. Suzanne Andrews says, " Some of my patients who have lost their legs, eyesight and schedule their lives around dialysis appointments know how serious diabetes is so don't wait til it's too late. Get moving now."
Dr. Oz echoes the warning, "There are 6,000 amputations in the US every year because of diabetes. "People don't change their lives from what they know, they change their lives because of what they feel," Oz said. Diabetes can lead to amputations because the arteries get damaged and the blood circulation stops.
